Bhimashankar is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Sahyadri Hills near Pune, Maharashtra, approximately 110 km from Pune and 230 km from Mumbai. Nestled at an altitude of about 3,250 feet, it is known for its ancient temple, serene environment, and rich biodiversity, as it lies within the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. The temple, believed to date back to the 13th century with later additions by Maratha rulers, is a blend of Nagara and Hemadpanti architectural styles. It is also the source of the Bhima River. Bhimashankar attracts pilgrims for darshan and rituals, as well as nature lovers for trekking and wildlife exploration. The temple is open daily from 4:30 AM to 9:30 PM, with special darshan and pooja options available.
